Our communities have deteriorated not because the people in them do not care, but because they have no vested interest in the community where they live.  We have far too few homeowners in our communities, and for those who rent, these people face the problem of getting services from absentee landlords who seldom respond to their issues.  The condition of occupied properties has deteriorated which contributes to a negative impact on the value of surrounding properties.  We have garbage strewn alleys, abandoned houses and basements, and homes with backyards full of trash and debris. Some may complain because there is an expectation that “someone is supposed to handle these issues by utilizing our tax dollars”.  I am saying that it doesn't matter who is supposed to perform the service, we do not have to live like this!                Final Thoughts
